Powering Indigenous Communities with New ABM Partnerships.

Penticton, Canada : Naut'sa mawt Resources Group (NRG) and international solar panel manufacturer Invensun, officially launched their joint venture, inEnergy at the 2017 Aboriginal Business Match (ABM) in Penticton on May 8th.

Over three days, the new solar power company had the opportunity to engage with community leaders and members to explain their collaborative approach to providing energy independence and security.

"The ABM experience exceeded my expectations," said inEnergy's CEO, Mr. Makwana, "it was well organised and the collaborative atmosphere helped foster meaningful connections.  We are thankful to the Penticton Indian Band for hosting us and to Raven Events and the ABM team for all their work. It was the ideal place to launch our company."

One of those connections was forged with Gregg Drury of Heartland Timber Homes.

"As soon as I sat down with them, I knew that these guys were dedicated to working with Indigenous communities," said Gregg Drury after meeting with inEnergy earlier that afternoon. "They really know their stuff and they are exactly the kind of company that we were hoping to meet today."

Heartland Timber Homes and inEnergy formally announced their intentions to collaborate on a demonstration project for Toosey First Nation during the ABM, and look forward to working together.

inEnergy also engaged with Indigenous community leaders about how their micro and utility scale solar power systems could help generate safe, clean, renewable energy for their communities while providing opportunities for economic development.

"We don't just want to power communities, we want to help community members with hands-on training and capacity building so they can be the utility." said Makwana, "and this really resonated with people we spoke with".
